Correspondent in Washington — Iran Announces Response to U.S. Bombings. Hossein Shariatmadari, representative of Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, has called for immediate retaliation following U.S. attacks on Iranian nuclear facilities. He stated that Iran should launch a missile strike against the U.S. naval fleet in Bahrain and close the Strait of Hormuz to American, British, German, and French ships.

“It is now our turn to act without delay,” said Shariatmadari.

The U.S. President Warned: “Any retaliation from Iran against the United States will be met with far greater force than what was seen tonight.”

Mahdi Mohammadi, advisor to the Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, stated that Iran had already anticipated the U.S. attack on Fordow.

“The site was evacuated some time ago and has not suffered irreversible damage in the attack,” Mohammadi wrote in a social media post. “Two things are certain: first, knowledge cannot be bombed, and second, this time the player will lose.”

UN Secretary-General Gravely Alarmed

According to information from the EFE news agency, UN Secretary-General António Guterres said today he was “gravely alarmed by the use of force by the United States against Iran,” and warned that “there is no military solution” that can replace diplomacy.

“This dangerous escalation in a region already on the edge is a direct threat to international peace and security,” said Guterres in an urgent statement issued as Donald Trump appeared to justify the need for the attack on three Iranian nuclear sites.
