Bilbao, Spain – Pan-African organizations have issued a joint statement condemning severe racial abuses and human rights violations against their leader and president, Diallo Ablaye, who currently resides in Bilbao. In their statement, the World Pan-African Organization (OPAM_WOPO), ASAC International, and the World Youth Parliament highlight a series of abuses of human rights and international law allegedly experienced by Ablaye in Spain.
The statement, addressed to prominent international figures such as King Felipe VI of Spain, President of the African Commission Moussa Faki Mahamat, EU President Ursula von der Leyen, and President of the Government of Spain Pedro Sánchez, details what they describe as “persecution, racism, and discrimination” faced by the Pan-African leader at the hands of Basque authorities, including alleged abuses of power, death threats, and misuse of the judicial system. The organizations demand that Ablaye be granted freedom of movement and that the reported “detention and mistreatment” he has endured for years come to an end.
The statement warns of serious implications for diplomatic relations between Spain and African countries, urging a review of agreements on human rights protections and the treatment of African migrants. In a strong message, the Pan-African organizations declared that, if Ablaye’s and other African migrants’ rights are not restored, they may consider reciprocal measures to defend the rights of African citizens abroad.
The case has sparked international concern, drawing attention to the plight of African migrants in Europe and underscoring demands for justice and respect for human rights.
