In a recent statement, Christine Epoupa, representative of ASAC INT, made an urgent call for all Pan-Africanists to mobilize in defense of President Diallo Ablaye, who was physically attacked by Basque police in Bilbao, Spain, on Monday.
Epoupa emphasized that while there may be differences in the understanding of Pan-Africanism, love and unity must prevail in order for the unity Africa needs to manifest. She highlighted that the suffering of any member of the Pan-African community should be considered the concern of all, urging collective action to ensure that African voices are heard by the international community.
"The urgency of cases like Congo and our comrade, President Diallo Ablaye, must be addressed immediately," Epoupa stated, demanding that Spanish and international authorities involved in the complaints already filed take action to restore Ablaye's basic rights, which have been unjustly stripped from him.
This attack is not an isolated incident, as President Ablaye had previously been targeted in assassination attempts and has been wrongfully deprived of his salary and dismissed from his position. A mobilization to demand justice and respect for his fundamental rights is underway.
"Pan-Africanists, let’s mobilize for the rights of our people," Epoupa concluded in her call for solidarity and action.
This incident once again highlights the challenges faced by many African leaders and activists abroad, underscoring the urgent need for collective efforts to fight for justice and dignity for African peoples.
